Today’s word prompt is ‘‘exchange.’
I recently keep finding myself wanting to completely switch things up in my life. In today’s age of social media it really is hard to not compare yourself and your current situation to everyone around you. The problem with that is, as we all know, people only tend to post the good bits. It’s rare people post a photo online saying ‘look how shit I look today, check these bags out.’ It’s an endless supply of happy couple photos, clean houses and perfect selfies. The reality I’m sure is quite different for many. Despite knowing that’s the case, you still can’t help but think you’d like to exchange lives even for a day to see what it’s like.
There is that famous saying though, the grass isn’t always greener. I’ve found myself at a crossroads in my career and I’m fairly certain I’ve decided to take a different path to the one I’ve been working towards for the past 10 years. It’s scary and a bit exciting and there is definitely the fear of the unknown. The fear that the grass won’t be greener. So my question is when you’re craving the change and envying others, how do you know if that’s all it is? How do you know if it’s just wondering if the grass is greener or if it really is time for action? If I figure it out I’ll let you know!
Till tomorrow x
